Volunteer Resource Center
The
Mission of the Volunteer Resource Center (VRC) is dedicated to providing
opportunities and resources to volunteers to increase the effectiveness and
efficiency of local service organizations. In 2005, the VRC will
continue to fulfill its mission of promoting volunteerism and volunteer
opportunities in Warren County through various focus groups, sponsored
projects, and events.
Through the efforts of the members of the Corporate Volunteer
Council (CVC), three donation drives are planned:
-
Warren County Community Services/Senior Services Shut In
Drive - collect comfort items for seniors who are enrolled in the Meals
On Wheels program.
-
Nonperishable Food Drive - collect nonperishable goods
and monetary donations for community food pantries.
-
16th Annual Visit with Santa Toy Drive - collect toys to
assist children who are clients of Warren County United Way Partner
Agencies and other community human/social service agencies and
organizations.
In 2005, the VRC will also continue the tradition of
sponsoring their annual National Volunteer Luncheon, an opportunity for
agencies and organizations to recognize their volunteers who give so much of
their time and talents.
Through the Interagency Council, the VRC will promote
networking and collaboration of community service providers by hosting
meetings throughout the year that include formal presentations from
designated agencies and roundtable networking discussions. In 2005,
the following agencies and organizations will make presentations to the
Interagency Council: New Housing Opportunities, Mental Health
Association, 4C...for Children, Abilities First, Abuse and Rape Crisis
Shelter, Warren County Adult New Readers, Epilepsy Council, and Cancer
Family Care.
In order to work more efficiently and to ensure that the
projects and programs provided are of value to the community, surveys were
conducted and evaluated in 2004. As a result, a new CVC structure and
scheduling format was implemented, an updated Volunteer Handbook was
produced, a new marketing brochure was printed, and an all day training
workshop, Bridges Out of Poverty, was made available to community service
providers.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the volunteers who
supported the VRC throughout 2004, without whom our events and projects
would not enjoy success. We look forward to a continued relationship
in 2005.
